<p>The Postgraduate Study Programme In "School Psychology" is a four-semester full-time programme leading to the award of a Master΄s Degree in "School Psychology" in one of the following two specializations: </p><p><b>(a) Specialization in School Psychology.</b> The successful completion of the postgraduate course, leading to a Master΄s Degree in this Specialization, includes six (6) mandatory core courses and one (1) compulsory course among electives, a research thesis and 800 hours of supervised practical training (Ministerial Decision no. 29322/10.07.2018 Hellenic Government Gazette no 4198/27.12.203601/24.08.201816 vol. 2). During the first three (3) semesters graduate students have to attend and successfully pass the above seven (7) courses. During the third (3rd) semester students must also begin their thesis as well as their practical training. In the fourth (4th) semester students will continue exclusively with their thesis and their practical training, which have to be successfully completed. The program is allocated a total of 120 ECTS credits. </p><p>The goals of the School Psychology Specialization are (a) to provide specialized and in depth knowledge of the basic principles of School, Educational, Developmental and Counseling Psychology, (b) to develop and apply in depth skills and research methods to a variety of phenomena relevant to the educational process and the school context in general, and (c) the attainment of competence as a school psychologist. </p><p><b>(b) Specialization in Psychology Applications in Education.</b> The successful completion of the postgraduate course, leading to a Master΄s Degree in this Specialization, includes ten (10) mandatory core courses and one project (Ministerial Decision no. 29322/10.07.2018 Hellenic Government Gazette no 4198/27.12.203601/24.08.201816 vol. 2). During the first three (3) semesters graduate students have to attend and successfully pass a total of nine (9) core courses. During the fourth (4th) semester students have to attend and pass one (1) more core course and also successfully complete their project. The program is allocated a total of 120 ECTS credits. </p><p>The goals of the Psychology Applications in Education Specialization are (a) to provide specialized and in depth knowledge of the basic principles of School, Educational, Developmental and Counseling Psychology and (b) to support the professional identity of teachers and other school personnel by providing knowledge and skills necessary for the promotion of learning and academic attainment of children and adolescents, for classroom management and cooperation within the school community. </p><p>Upon their graduation: </p><p>A1. Graduates of the School Psychology Specialization will be able to practice within schools and other educational agencies, as well as autonomously, the duties of the professional school psychologist, by applying theoretical knowledge into practice for preschoolers, children, adolescents, teachers and parents. In particular, they will be able to understand the processes that are responsible for developmental changes in the context of typical and atypical development, will be able to apply that knowledge that promotes healthy development and adaptation of children and adolescents to the school, the family and the wider community. They will also be able to apply modern methods of research, evaluation, and clinical applications in the school environment and to design prevention and intervention programs in the school community by combining the basic principles of School, Educational, Developmental and Counseling Psychology in order to assess and address the learning, behavioral, social and emotional difficulties faced by children, adolescents and their families. </p><p>A2. Graduates of the Psychology Applications in Education Specialization will be able to broaden their role and professional identity as educators, by recognizing the processes and mechanisms of both typical and atypical development in students of all levels, with the aim to assist successful adaptation in school and to create favorable learning environments for the academic achievement of all students. They will also be able to work effectively with mental health professionals in the school and the community, but also with parents, in order to implement primary and secondary prevention and intervention programs to effectively manage the difficulties faced by children, adolescents and families, and to empower the resilience and well-being of all members of the school community. </p><p>B. All graduates develop skills to generate new ideas, manage scientific research questions, analyze and synthesize research data and information, apply scientific methods, and make use of new technologies. </p><p>C. All graduates particularly develop critical and self-critical thinking skills, learn to work effectively either autonomously or in multidisciplinary groups, and adapt to new situations and make important decisions. </p><p>D. All graduates are able to handle literature databases, research data bases, statistical programs and software - where appropriate -, understand and design favorable learning environments, and communicate in English, a skill that is particularly important for their professional and personal development. </p><p>E. All graduates (a) learn to respect the ethics of the profession of psychologist and teacher respectively, and develop professional, social and moral responsibility, (b) learn to respect diversity and multiculturalism and provide high quality services to relevant populations, and (c) learn to understand and approach, both clinically and pedagogically, issues of the scientific field through the ΄lenses΄ of gender. </p>
