Learning Outcomes
By the completion of the course, the students: (a) will become aware of the interlanguage characteristics in L2 Greek, (b) will be able to comprehend the central research topics in second/foreign language acquisition, (c) will be able to understand the theoretical aproaches to second/foreign language acquisition, (d) will be acquainted with the different methodologies employed in second/foreing language acquisition, (e) will be able to evaluate the empirical findings with respect to theoretical models, (f) will be able to conduct a small-scale empirical research.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of this course is to disccuss central issues in second/foreign language acquisition. More specifically, the course has a twofold aim: on one hand, the most important theoretical approaches to second language acquisition are presented and on the other, the theretical frameworks are evaluated in relation to empirical research, with emphasis on L2 Greek. The course focuses on the development of morphological, syntactic and phonological phenomena in the second/foreign language, while studies which investigate the way L2 learners process the target input will also be analysed.
