Learning Outcomes
1. exercise and practise on interpretational themes, typology and historical dimension of dramatic characters, and theatrological evaluation of text on modern terms.
2. demonstration of the relation between Greek and Roman theatre and the contribution of the second one to the Western Theatre until today (Shakespeare, Racine, Moliere etc.), including the New Greek Theatre (typology of characters, methods of producing laughter, techiques etc.).

Course Content (Syllabus)
a. Hellenistic theatre and New comedy.
b. Prelitterary forms of drama in Italy, i.e. fabula Attellana, versus Fescennini, mimus, satura.
c. the 3 Roman stars: Plautus, Caecilius, Terence.
d. scenery, costumes, masks.
e. contaminatio, low of 5 acts etc.
