Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able -To conceptualize Literature in the context of Science and understand poetics in relation to the history and philosophy of the so called Natural Sciences. -To survey the history of Literature in its interrelation with the history of ideas and human thought. -To develop a critical and creative thinking in communicating with texts in a foreign language. -To develop a method and construct a system in organizing intensive close up readings of texts. -To collect and arrange appropriate research data in evaluating their significance for assignment planning. -To develop skills in the close examination of texts and in making thematic and formal connections between them. -To appreciate the use of technology and operate it effectively in the delivery of instruction, assessment and professional development.

Course Content (Syllabus)
From Andreas Calvos and his relationship with physics to Aristotle Nicolaides and his relationship with psychiatry and from the mathematical reading of Cavafy by Saregiannis to today’s mathematical literature, literature and literary criticism have often crossed paths with science engaging either in close relationships or in tug of war. The course explores this interrelation featuring various instances, focusing on specific periods and paradigms and addressing a dialogue with the theory and philosophy of science.

Description
Integrated use of information technology inside and outside the classroom. Effective inside the classroom for face to face teaching through word and powerpoint presentations and outside the classroom via the internet for bibliographic information and online communication of the students with the tutor. Students have also access to information technology at the space especially equipped with computer software and hardware by the Department where digital technology infrastructure includes internet and web services to facilitate word processing and internet access.
