Learning Outcomes
Learning of: a) The history of air conditioning technology b) The technology of the air conditioning systems c) The psychrometry and heat recovery techniques c) The methodologies of calculating and design of various air-conditioning systems d) The procedure of calculating the energy consumption in air conditioning systems e) The elaboration of design study of heating installation in buildings Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to calculate and design central air-conditioning installations in buildings and to estimate the energy consumption of air-conditioning systems

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction. History of air-conditioning systems. All-air, all-water, air-water and VRV systems. Psychrometrics. Air–to-air energy recovery. Space air diffusion. Air duct design. Pipe sizing. Equipment (chillers, boilers, AHU, cooling and heating coils, humidifiers, cooling towers, filters, diffusers, terminal units, fans, pumps) selection and sizing. Control of HVAC systems. Noise control. Energy conservation in HVAC systems. Calculation of energy use for space cooling.
