A standard competence in the use of the French language is required.
Learning Outcomes
Students should be able το: 1. Review the main contemporary French media (newspapers, radios, TV channels, websites), the way they operate and the conditions of practice of the journalistic profession in France. 2. Understand the specific French terms related to journalism and media. 3. Understand authentic francophone journalistic texts. 4. Write brief news articles in proper French, applying journalistic writing rules.

Course Content (Syllabus)
General introduction to the French media landscape (Print and broadcast). The profession of journalist in France, the news agencies, the newsroom. Journalist resources, news values, audience issues. Focus on two main text types a) dépêches d’agence and b) faits divers.
