Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic cognitive processes, types and research methods of cognitive intervention.
Perception: Structure, models, training.
Attention: Structure, models, factors influencing attention, training, educational implications.
Memory: Memory improvement (strategies, metamemory). Working memory and learning.
Memory intervention programs.
Language: Improving reading and comprehension abilities (e.g., inferences, comprehension
monitoring & control). The role of existing knowledge in comprehension. Relationships between
working memory and linguistic abilities.
Thought: Problem solving, problem solving strategies, and intervention programs. Creativity
theories.
Cognitive intervention: Programs, and their evaluation.
