evaluate activities and material from museums and cultural reference sites;
plan, implement and evaluate a museum educational training program
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course approaches sites of cultural heritage (i.e. museums, archaeological sites, monuments, exhibitions etc.) both theoretically and educationally. The aim is to encourage future teachers to use these elements in the classroom for the spiritual development of children in the preschool age and the first year of primary school.
For that reason, the course focuses on a brief presentation of the historical development of Museums and the perceptions that have been developed in different eras related to its social and educational function as influenced by various historical conditions.
The theoretical and methodological framework for a museum educational approach is also examined, with practical applications in sites and on-site exercises. The operation and cooperation of the Museum with school and parents is also considered alongside the use of local history, intercultural education and especially the use of technology.
