3. Technical and theoretical knowledge about the material transformations that refer to internal or external parameters in a system such as changing programmes and structural constraints.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This module focuses on contemporary perceptions of matter as a dynamical system that, through its affectivity with the world allow forms to emerge. It addresses and explores the extended use of material processes and techniques in architectural design. It addresses concepts and processes like material form finding, digital fabrication, additive and reductive manufacturing and synthetic biology. Those concepts are presented, analysed and understood in terms of the effects that they create. Aim of the module is to transcend these concepts towards a novice, critical and innovative approach, through hands-on exercises, material experimentation and physical manifestations. Through these exercises and discussion issues like programmable materiality, immaterial materiality and synthetic materiality are presented and examined.
