Course Content (Syllabus)
This module considers the main theoretical and research approaches to intergroup phenomena within Social Psychology. More specifically it focuses on a) theories that explain intergroup relations through recourse to the concepts of prejudice and stereotypes (socio-cognitive approaches to racism), b) theories that focus on group identity and membership as a basis for collective action, social conflict and social change (Social identity and Self-Categorization theory) and c) social constructionist approaches to identity and social categorization (Rhetorical and Discursive Psychology).

Student Assessment
Description
During the seminars students present short essays based on the study and critical analysis of theoretical and research texts. Moreover there is a final assessment which includes either a small-scale research report or a theoretical essay.
