Course Content (Syllabus)
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION CONTROL Environmental pollution control procedures. Field measurements. Principles and methods of sampling from atmosphere and various emission sources. Types of sampling devices- Analytical methods for determination of gaseous pollutants.Levels and chemical composition of airborne particulate matter. Sampling and analysis of atmospheric deposition. Principles and techniques for water sampling- Samples preatreatment methods. Analytical methods for determination of various water quality parameters (organoleptic, nutrients, heavy metals, toxic elements, toxic organic compounds). Biosensors. Urban and industrial solid wastes. Characterization of toxicity of solid wastes-Leaching tests. Evaluation of the analytical results with respect to various environmental factors. Source identification and apportionment.
