Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the course is to provide students with a special knowledge of the literary study of the New Testament, such as the historic-critical, literary, and translational issues of the text. In addition, students will learn through the study of sources (literary, historical and archaeological) aspects of the cultural and religious environment of the first Christian communities and will learn to analyze comparatively the historical and sociological issues of the time. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • identify and analyze philological issues of the New Testament • use and make critical use of literary tools and the relevant methods of the New Testament text, such as dictionaries, grammars, and translations • can analyze critically ancient sources and use their information in the interpretation of the New Testament text
