The course aims at elucidating the dramatic role of the tragic chorus, focusing on their social status, ethnic origin, gender, emotions and ideology.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course will focus on role of the chorus as dramatic character but will also examine whether the chorus also plays other equally rounded roles, e.g. ritual or civic, and if so, whether one role is more prominent in the work of a playwright or in some of his plays.
