Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is help students comprehend the basic principles behind Translation Studies and their importance in relation to the translation act.
The course constitutes an introduction to Translation Studies. After a diachronic study of the major principles and concepts that dominate the scientific thinking of translation, the various approaches toward the translation process are examined. Translation is examined both as a process and as the result of such process, while special emphasis is given to its communicative and cultural dimension.
