Course Content (Syllabus)
Modern French Culture, and institutions of French society. This course studies contemporary French culture and the institutions of French society. Among other things, it approaches the organization of modern French society, its political system, its culture and impact on the world as well as the interactions of the French culture with other cultures. 1. Introductory concepts: civilization and culture 2. Major historical events of 20th century France (I) 3. Major historical events of 20th century France (II) 4. The organization of the French political system 5. French and European institutions 6. The image of modern France in the world: Europe, France, Globalization 7. Aspects of French society (I) 8. Aspects of French society (II) 9. The daily life of the French 10. France in science and technology 11. The artistic trends in 20th century France 12. The Age of the Intellectuals: Philosophy and Letters 13. The lesson of civilization in the F.L.E. (Français Langue Étrangère)
