Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester the students will be able to: 1. understand the basic narrative patterns and characteristics in the works of well known writers - creators 2. recognise the continuity of style in the work of exceptional writers/directors. 3. familiarize with individual issues and diferent styles of screenwriting 4. analyse film script and its contribution to a film

Course Content (Syllabus)
Through studying the work of important screenwriters, we examine the basic motifs of these creators , the thematic cores of their work and the narrative trends of their era. Also, the methods they use during the creative procedure of writing a screenplay. Indicatively examined: Guillermo Arriaga,Charlie Kaufman, Suso D’ Amico, Mike Leigh,Krysztof Piesewitz,Paul Schrader,Tonino Guerra,Jan-Pierre Melville, Jean Claude Carriere, Quentin Tarantino. (Students get in contact with their work through characteristic excerpts /scenes and films,interviews, analyses and reviews)

The final evaluation is according the below: 1. The written project at the end of the semester 40% 2. the active participation at the courses 15% 3. the written assignments/exercises (3) during the semester 45%.
