Learning Outcomes
Cognitive:
The students will acquire knowledge related to informatics law and legal methodology, intellectual property, personal data, e-crime, e-commerce.
Skills:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: - Have knowledge and ability to understand the legal issues arising from the applications of information technology and learn the basic rules of copyright protection regarding works of information technology (e.g., software, databases), of legal regulations of e-commerce and protection of personal data. - To have acquired those skills to further acquire knowledge, in order to be acquainted with legal aspects of applications of information technology.
Course Content (Syllabus)
A. Introduction to Informatics law and Legal Methodology.
B. Protection of Digital Assets: 1. Introduction to IPR. The concept of works in Copyright Law. Original and Derivative Law. Property and moral rights of creators. Restrictions of property rights.
2. Software protection.
3. Legal protection of Databases,
4. Multimedia works and digital works (video & music files, e-books), digital libraries, peer-to-peer networks.
C. Contracts for Sofware, databases and Internet services. Creative commons.
D. Electronic commerce.
E. Personal data and privacy protection.
F. Electronic crimes
