Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: (Knowledge) -Name and analyse the basic educational aims of Public Education in Greece -Distinguish the fundamental characteristics of Religious Education and Congregational Education (Skills) -Locate the influences that emerge from orthodox tradition and life in the monuments of Greek culture, and use their observations effectively by designing the teaching process of Religious Course (Competencies) -Value the role and educational importance of Religious Education within the framework of Public Education basic aims -Shape critically their own view on how dimensions of Orthodox Theology can be used as educational contents of Religious Education in the Greek Public School

Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic aim of the course is to explore and highlight the relationships developed between Orthodox Theology, Religious Education and Public Sphere, as it has been shaped in modern Greek reality. Taking the above perspective as a point of departure, the following axes are explored: -Conceptual definition of public space -The Public Space in Greece today -The impact of the Orthodox Church regarding the way of life that characterizes modern Greek society -The importance of Orthodox Theology on issues related to the Public Space of Greek reality -The relationship between Public Space and Public Education -The relationship between Public Space and Religious Education - Religion as a course embodied into the Curriculum of public school -The distinction between Religious Education and Congregational Education - Religious Education oriented to orthodox tradition and life and its impact for the Public Space in Greece
