Learning Outcomes
The students will have acquired an insight into the contemporary research of myth. They will have become acquainted with the comparative approach to mythological material. They will have learned to work with texts and images with mythical content. They will have dealt with texts of world literature.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This seminar gives an introduction into the studies of Myth and the different ways of literature and art to deal with the mythological material. We will focus on the Myths of the "Cretan cycle" and their resurfacing in the literature and art of primarily the 20th and 21st century: the Figures of Daedalus and Icarus, the incarnations of the Goddess, Pasiphae and Ariadne, the hero Theseus and the Monster Minotaur.
