Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to know and recognize the types of language disorders, the ways of assessing language problems and differential diagnosis. They will also be familiar with speech and language intervention techniques and will be able to set language objectives, depending on the category of special educational needs.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course aims to analyze the developmental and acquired speech and language disorders of children and adolescents. The sections of the course begin with a description of typical speech and language development and then the different categories of language disorders are examined, their characteristics and assessment and intervention methods. The following sections will be examined more specifically: Speech and communication - standard speech development and ways of communicating Linguistic evaluation, sampling and analysis methods Developmental language disorder Learning difficulties and problems of oral and written language Children with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds Language problems in children with mental disabilities Speech disorders in children with autism Speech disorders in children with hearing disorders Speech disorders in children with acquired disorders Stuttering, cerebral palsy, cleft lip and palate Differential diagnosis and speech intervention issues, educational goals and techniques - teaching methods in the classroom Early communication intervention
