The study of genetic improvement and reproduction of plants for special purposes e.g. plants for essential oils, biomass production, carbon sequestration, energy, special wood (wood carvings, musical instruments) etc. Applications with examples from Greek and international research.

Genetic Improvement Methods for the production of technical wood and biomass and ways to maximize biomass production from rapidly growing forest species. CO2 capture and forests - forest plantations. Energy and forests - forest plantations. Selection of forest plants for river basins. Reproduction systems of fast-growing - ornamental forestry species and their importance in Genetic Improvement. Ornamental Trees and Shrubs - Christmas Trees - Genetic Improvement - Purpose - Aims. Fruit-bearing, aromatic, medicinal, serotrophic forest plants. Secondary products-Ways of propagation, Genetic Improvement for Secondary Forest Plant Products, Management of genetic material, Utilization.
