Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of the course, the students will:
1. have deeply understood the molecular mechanisms of plant-virus-vector interactions
2. know the factors shaping the epidemiology and evolution of of plant viruses
3. become acquainted with advanced cutting-edge methodologies of plant viruses diagnosis
4. have looked into the biotechnological applications of plant viruses and will κnow the modern approaches of plant virus disease management
Course Content (Syllabus)
Taxonomy, synthesis and structure of plant viruses, mechanisms of disassembly and genome expression, replication and movement (RNA/DNA viruses) in the plant host, molecular plant-virus-vector interactions, methodology of disease diagnosis and novel virus detection methods, epidemiology and ecology, genetic diversity and evolution, modern methods of plant virus management, plant viruses as useful biotechnological tools, viroids, satellite viruses and satellite nucleic acids.
