Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to
- Have mastered the concept and content of Spatial Development and modern phenomena, trends and relevant views
- To have become familiar with the tools and programming methods of local and regional development.
- be able to prepare strategic plans for local development
- be able to prepare operational plans for local development
Course Content (Syllabus)
The key components that will be taught are:
• Concepts, contemporary events and trends in spatial development
• The spatial dimension of development at various scales and types of areas:
regional, local, urban, rural, disadvantaged, mountainous and coastal areas.
• Regulatory framework for economic programming (Greek and European)
• Methodologies:
socioeconomic analysis and needs identification / goal setting and strategy / consequence, relevance and coherence / priorities, measures and interventions / assessment of results and impact / implementation mechanisms
• Special mechanisms and tools: Public Investment Program, PPP, stade aid, global grants, revolving funds.
