Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will have the following abilities / skills:
1) calculation of forces on structures (beams, sandals of structures, roof nets, bridges, etc.).
2) calculation of construction balance
3) calculation of construction stresses (tensile, bending, fracture, etc.)
4) design and control of small concrete structures (culverts, retaining walls, Irish clause, etc.)
Course Content (Syllabus)
The core of the course is given into three sections: A) Engineering: which explains the subject of Engineering, Newton's fundamental laws, and the division of engineering based on matter, space, and time. Analyzes the forces, torque, and permanent or transient loads exerted on a body. B) Applied Engineering refers to the composition and balance of forces, static moments of linear surfaces and bodies (finding the center of gravity), isostatic linear bodies (definitions, types, and support of bodies), cross-section loads, and flat grids. Basic principles of strength of materials (types of stresses, objects, stresses, deformations, and diagrams). Torque of inertia and resistance torque of a body. Calculation of the correct stresses and calculation of the shear stresses of a bent beam of rectangular cross-section. Static calculations of forestry projects and control of their stability. Reinforced concrete in forestry constructions in combination with structural timber as composite constructions. C) Introduction and general principles of Soil Engineering, elements of soil dynamics, properties, classification, and control of soil strength for the construction of structures. It is explained that on-site and laboratory research of soil samples is performed, soil-sampling methods are taught, foundations of technical projects (bearing strength, soil slopes, soil stabilization, and methods for calculating the strength of stabilized soil samples by landslides and landslides, landslides with landslides, landslides, and road thickness calculation methods). Foundation methods and systems. Ground thrusts, ground friction angles. Static control of retaining walls, safety factors. Base pillar calculations using the Terzaghi equation. Determination of depth of frost penetration in the soil in forest areas and its’ effect on structures.
