5. discuss about the new trends of cooperatives worldwide
Course Content (Syllabus)
Definition of Cooperatives and Introduction to Cooperative Classification Schemes. Shapes of cooperation. Types of cooperatives: agricultural, urban, marketing. History of cooperative movement in Greece and worldwide. Cooperative identity, values and principles. Structure, Organization and Management of Cooperatives. Cooperative development. Cooperative education and research. Cooperatives in European Union. Obstacles in cooperation. Comparison between cooperatives and private firms. Cooperative economics. Cooperative policy and legislation. Activities, importance and weaknesses of cooperatives. The role of cooperatives in rural development. The future of cooperatives.
