• Understanding the fundamental principles of Geology and relevant scientific fields. • Understanding the interaction and interdependence of the geological phenomena. • Learning fundamental definitions and principles of General Geology. • Learning the use of basic geological field equipment (geological compass, geological hammer, etc.).

Course Content (Syllabus)
• History and branches of Geology. • Earth as a planetary body. • Methods of geological research. • The Earth’s interior. • The rock cycle. • Classification of rocks and their formation conditions. • Age of Earth and dating geological events. • Erosion, transport and deposition of sediments. • Principles of stratigraphy and paleontology. • Tectonic structures: faults, joints, folds. • Orogenic processes and principles of the Lithospheric Plate Theory. • Geological systems. • Applications of Geology.
