Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students are expected to: • Be familiar with both conventional and electronic/digital language assessment • Be able to evaluate electronic/digital language tests according to specific criteria. • Be able to construct language tests and language tests for the Italian language in electronic form. • To practice the application of Alternative Assessment methods and statistical processing of test results with digital media

Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic Principles of Language Assessment. Descriptors related to digital literacy and technical skills. Traditional and computer-based/online language assessment. Computer based/Online language tests (linear, adaptive, branching): Typologies and design. Scoring, grading and feedback. Automated assessment of Productive Skills. Presentation, detailed description and evaluation criteria for computer-based language tests and language proficiency tests (L2 Italian and L2 in general). Artificial Intelligence / Language Assessment and COVID-19. Presentation of technology applications in language assessment (during and post Covid-19 pandemia). Alternative methods of language assessment with the use of educational technologies. Websites, applications and software for test design and educational technology on assessing reading, listening, writing, speaking but also vocabulary and gramma. Digital/Web tools and design of assessment tasks for Italian as an L2 Electronic sources/Digital tools for the statistical analysis of language test results and item analysis .

There are 2 alternative ways of evaluation: 1. Continuous Assessment through quizzes (2) and (small) assignments (2) during the semester, the average of which will be the final grade of the course. - To participate in the process of continuous assessment, it is recommended to attend the course (MAX. 4 absences) and to participate in the discussions and related activities. 2. Final Examination
