RELIGIOUS FREEDOM & HUMAN RIGHTS European and International Protection Courses in 13 Weeks by Professor Constantinos Papageorgiou Diagram 1. An introductory to the history and international protection of human rights 2. A typology: civil and political rights / economic, social and cultural rights 3. International protection of religious freedom ▪ the Charter of the United Nations (1945) • the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966) • the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966) • the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (1969) • the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989). 4. European Convention on Human Rights (Rome, 4.11.1950) 5. Jurisprudence (Court Decisions) of European Court on Human Rights (Strasburg): presentation and analytical approach 6. Religious Freedom ▪ Freedom of Religious Conscience ▪ Freedom of Worship ▪ Limitations to religious freedom 7.
