Learning Outcomes
With the successful completion of the course, the student will be able to evaluate based on the sources, bibliography, historical and cultural data, the history, culture, and spiritual texture of the Slavic world, as it was imprinted on its monuments and pilgrimages. Simultaneously, he might proceed in description and analysis of moments of history as of the Slavic world and through the treatment and the composition of elements from various sources (in greek and foreign languages, conventional and electronic) he will be driven to conclusions and ascertainments.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The object of study, based on sources, literature, historical and cultural data, is the history, culture and spiritual texture of the Slavic world, as reflected in its monuments and pilgrimages.
1. The "Pilgrimage" as a characteristic of the religiosity of the Slavs. The penetration of the Greek Christian culture in the world of the Slavs and their participation in the "Byzantine Commonwealth". The extraordinary role of religion in the art and culture of the Slavic peoples.
2. Important milestones in the History of the Church of Russia.
3. The Monasteries and the most important religious monuments of Moscow.
4. The most important religious monuments of Saint Petersburg.
5. The most important religious monuments of Kiev and other Russian pilgrimage destinations.
6. The personality of Saint Savva and his imprint on the Serbian national and ecclesiastical tradition. Serbia between East and West. Holy places in Kosovo.
7. Centers of Orthodox heritage in Montenegro. The religious wealth of Diocleia/Zeta and its pilgrimage development.
8. The effect of Mount Athos and the holy monastery of Hilandari on the Serbian area. The founding of the Serbian Mount Athos. Lonely life. Historic Monasteries.
9. Pilgrimage routes in the western Balkans. The sacred geography of space. Religious-Cultural places.
