Course Content (Syllabus)
This course introduces contemporary syntactic theory, including generative and non-generative approaches. Syntax of German,lexical and grammatical categories, basic clause structure of German (V2). Topics to be covered include the X’-Theory approach to phrase structure and transformational rules. Students are to be expected to practice this methodology through home work problems, exams, and a short project.
