Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this course students are expected to:
• familiarise themselves with theatre terminology associated with different kinds of theatre.
• explore authentic texts from the area of theatre and drama studies.
• develop skills of critical thinking and analysis through the examination of texts regarding various areas of theatre, drama and performance studies.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Authentic reading texts followed by comprehension and vocabulary activities, language exercises, and discussion questions. The texts touch upon various fields of theatre, drama and performance studies and are taken from a wide variety of sources. Indicative titles of units: Scenography, Comedy, Devising,A designer’s lexicon, Shakespeare’s audiences, Playtexts in Shakespeare’s time, What is genre?, The revenge tragedy, Separate Tables.
