Course Content (Syllabus)
In this seminar, we will examine theoretical concepts and discursive practices of the fantastic, exploring the spectrum of the weird, the spectral, the marvelous, the horrific, and the uncanny. The distinctive blend of disruption and fascination that characterizes the genre will be emphasized, and the subversive nature of the fantastic will be investigated. The corpus includes genre classics such as Edgar Allan Poe and Alfred Hitchcock, as well as contemporary authors like Etgar Keret, Fernando Iwasaki, and Samantha Schweblin.
