General Prerequisites
It is recommended to have previously attended the elective course 08EA051 - Hydrography and Marine Geodesy and that the course 05YB032 - Digital Photogrammetry has been successfully completed.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: a) describe the scientific methodologies and protocols, as well as the diving practices applied in underwater surveying, taking advantage of the available tools and techniques. and b) design, prepare and present an implementation plan for an underwater survey, taking into account the regulatory framework (including legal aspects), potential risks and the capabilities of the members of a research team.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course provides theoretical knowledge about scientific methodologies and protocols, regulatory framework (including the legal aspects), diving practices, risk assessment and small research team management. At the same time, the means, techniques and examples of applying underwater surveying in research or studies for the features of the aquatic environment are described. During the course, participants undertake the preparation of a project, during which they will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills they have developed in designing, preparing and presenting the implementation plan for an underwater survey.

Student Assessment
Description
During the course, self-assessment is carried out through multiple-choice and short-answer questions on the developed topics, aiming for knowledge review (not taken into account in the final grade). The assessment is based on the individual reports/reports submitted during the course (corresponding to 30% of the final grade), the written assignment submitted before the end of the course (corresponding to 50% of the final grade) and a public presentation on the assigned topic at the end of the course (corresponding to 20% of the final grade).
