Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Observe, identify, describe, and explain volcanic activity within the context of plate tectonics theory.
2. Distinguish and explain the causes and mechanisms of volcanic eruptions.
3. Identify and describe the physical properties of magma and how these influence eruptions.
4. Describe and differentiate between various types of volcanoes, volcanic eruptions, geotectonic environments, and characteristic cases.
5. Describe and explain the main types of volcanic eruptions and notable cases.
6. Define and classify volcanic products.
7. Recognize and assess/raise awareness to the concept of understanding volcanic hazards and the need for volcanic monitoring.
8. Identify and describe Greek volcanism.
