Learning Outcomes
Obtainment of knowledge and terms relevant to poetry as an art of speech. · Obtainment of knowledge relevant to the evolution of poetic genres and self-referencing in poetry. · Familiarization with theoretical texts on poetry. · Development of skills necessary to approach poetic word through theoretical texts. · Obtainment of the ability to have a multifaceted approach to the research and analysis of poetry.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on theoretical approaches of the art of poetry, through an inter-temporal study, taking Aristotle’s Poetics as a starting point and continuing, the study emphasizes on the thought of poets and theorists such as Boileau, Jacobson, Baudelaire, Valéry Bonnefoy and others, in order to study issues like the function of poetry, the evolution of poetical forms, the specific procedures and features and the text's different elements that come together and produce the poetical effects and distinguish the poetical word, as well as modern poets’ concern regarding the goals and value of poetry.
