Learning Outcomes
·Students will be able to detect and understand the anthropogenic impact on sedimentary processes in terrestrial, transitional and marine environments. ·They will be taught the methods of determining the quality of sediments through the analysis of their physical, chemical and biological characteristics. ·They will be introduced to the process of planning and choosing the best sediment management option.

Course Content (Syllabus)
·Anthropogenic impact on terrestrial and lacustrine sedimentary environments (sand dredging from river beds etc). ·Anthropogenic impact on transitional sedimentary environments (shoreline and river deltas). Pitfalls and environmentally friendly practices in beach nourishment, effects of dam construction in deltaic sedimentary systems etc. ·Anthropogenic impact on marine sedimentary environments (sediment dredging in ports etc). ·Human pollutants within sediments. Transport mechanisms and detection methods.
