Learning Outcomes
The course aims to familiarize graduate students with the theory and the basic concepts of Engineering Seismology, such as the parameters that characterize and measure the strong ground motion, as well as the basic principles for the seismic hazard assessment.

Course Content (Syllabus)
1. Types and characteristics of seismometers. 2. Digital recordings. 3.Types of seismological networks 4. Seismological networks in Greece. 5. Analysis of seismological recordings for the location of the earthquakes. 6. Magnitude estimation from digital recordings. The course includes: 1) Exercises converting seismograms into ground motions and seismic data mapping. 2) Students received a basic course in Unix for their exercise applications. 3) Practical analysis of seismic data, using records from the Greek seismological network.
