Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students should:  understand the basic concepts of Computational Lexicography,  familiarize themselves with the types of computational lexical resources,  become familiar with techniques and methods of lexicon development,  learn about the latest advances in the area (i.e., Large Language Models),  become aware of the ethical and legal issues,  be able to participate in the design, development and evaluation of Computational Lexica for Natural Language Processing tools and applications.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This is an introductory course in the interdisciplinary field of Computational Lexicography for Natural Language Processing. The course is structured as follows: 1. Language Technology, Computational Linguistics, and Natural Language Processing (NLP): Basic concepts and principles. 2. A brief historical overview and significant milestones. from Machine-Readble lexica to lexical databases and vector representations. 3. Computational Lexicography and linguistic theory. 4. Morphological and Syntactic Lexicons. 5. From Form to Meaning: representing lexical meaning. 6. Thesauri and Ontologies. 7. Other Types of Lexicons. Lexicons of Multi-Word Expressions. 8. Applications and Lexical Resources. 9. Text Corpora and Lexical Resources. Word Embeddings. 10. Standardization - Linked Language Data. 11. Computational Lexical Resources: Legal and Ethical Issues. 12. Presentation of Projects.
