Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students should:  understand the basic concepts of Computational Lexicography,  familiarize themselves with the types of computational lexical resources,  become familiar with techniques and methods of lexicon development,  learn about the latest advances in the area (i.e., Large Language Models),  become aware of the ethical and legal issues,  be able to participate in the design, development and evaluation of Computational Lexica for Natural Language Processing tools and applications.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course offers an in-depth exploration of specialized topics in Computational Lexicography, with a focus on methods for developing and evaluating lexical resources for Natural Language Processing tasks and applications. Special emphasis will be placed on domain-specific applications and emerging trends brought about with the advent of Large Language Models. 1. Language Technology, Computational Linguistics, and Natural Language Processing (NLP): Basic concepts and principles. 2. A brief historical overview and significant milestones. from Machine-Readble lexica to lexical databases and vector representations (word embeddings). 3. Computational Lexicography and linguistic theory. 4. Morphological and Syntactic Lexicons. 5. From Form to Meaning: representing lexical meaning. 6. Thesauri, Ontologies and Knowlwdge Graphs. 7. Other Types of Lexicons. Lexicons of Multiword Expressions. Constructicons. 8. Applications and Lexical Resources (sentiment analysis). 9. Text Corpora and Lexical Resources. Word Embeddings. 10. Standardization - Linguistic Linked Open Data (LLOD). 11. Vectors, word embeddings. Computational lexica in the era of Large Language Models (LLMs) and GenAI 12. Computational Lexical Resources: Repositories, Legal and Ethical Issues. 13. Presentation of Projects.
