Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is the historical literacy as the development of historical knowledge, historical understanding, research skills in finding the sources and intrpretating them. Specifically, students will learn to lacate historical sources in multimodal material in order to answer historical questions and evaluate different interpretive historical methodologies.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The Modern Greek History course includes historical events, historical figures, named and anonymous, historical values and concepts, class and gender variables, geographies and places, as they were shaped in the period of the 19th century before and after the revolution of 1821. It is about national, Balkan and European historiography through sources and following the methodology of historical science. Nationality, Europeanness and historicity can be found in the official records and in the multimodal historical testimonies, in the traces of modern Greek history. The courses are supported by lectures, supervisory material, new technologies and oral exercises aimed at historical literacy and research activation of the student population.COURSE OUTLINE - the enlightenment and the revolutionary societies, the role of the Friendly Society, the economic crisis in Europe and the Balkans, the origin of the modern Greeks and the ideologies, the role of the Patriarchate, the organizational forms, the finances of the Struggle and the question of looters, the time of politicians, civil wars, the rule of Kapodistrias. Qualitative analyzes of historical sources, Marxist and feminist analysis, practical exercises, formulation of research questions, bibliographic searches.
