Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
- Identify all unit operations comprising a typical cell-based manufacturing process as well as possible facility layouts depending on the properties of the manufactured product and the type of cells employed
- Formulate and solve mass balances for each unit operation in a typical cell-based manufacturing process
- Design & analysis of mixing equipment for bioreactors
- Design & analysis of aeration equipment for bioreactors
- Design & analysis of downstream processes
- Perform scaling calculations between lab, pilot and commercial scale equipment
