Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: - identify core scientific concepts appropriate for early childhood education, based on the principles of the Greek National Curriculum Framework (ΔΕΠΠΣ/ΑΠΣ) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). - design and implement interdisciplinary learning scenarios that combine science education with digital technologies, focusing on the pedagogical integration of visual programming through ScratchJr. - develop and present original digital projects using ScratchJr that foster young children's engagement with basic scientific concepts, enhance creativity, and support the development of computational thinking (CT). - promote computational thinking through structured learning activities that involve sequencing, loops, and conditions, aligned with developmental characteristics of preschool learners and grounded in the TPACK framework. - select and utilize appropriate exploratory learning environments (e.g., simulations, LearningApps). - work collaboratively to create inclusive and engaging interdisciplinary educational interventions that encourage active participation and experiential learning in early childhood settings.

Course Content (Syllabus)
- Fundamental concepts of science in early childhood education according to the Greek National Curriculum and the Framework Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). - Teaching approaches and pedagogical use of ICT. - Educational software, applications, and inquiry-based environments (e.g., ScratchJr, LearningApps, simulations). - Computational thinking and inquiry-based learning in science education. - Interdisciplinary scenarios and activity design using ICT. - Collaborative learning and the use of digital technologies in educational practice.
