Upon successful completion, students will -have a comprehensive knowledge of the subjects studied by optoelectronics and microelectronics -be able to distinguish different types of materials and features according to properties and applications in modern opto- or micro- electronics
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Make decisions
  • Work autonomously
  • Generate new research ideas
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course consists of two modules: The 1st one concerns optoelectronic devices and includes theory on light modulation-detection and experimental demonstrations: Experimental demonstrations concerning wavelength multiplexing and propagation modulation in fiber and the characterization of diode lasers, semiconductor and erbium optical amplifiers, optical filters, optical chips. The 2nd one includes study, characterization and simulation of modern electronic devices of Micro and Nano-Electronics. The electrical behavior and reliability of two-dimensional transistors as well as three-dimensional multiple gates are studied.
