Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will:
• understand the main concepts relating to Translation Studies and the different fields of translation practice
• realize the active role of translation practice in intercultural communication
• use the methodology of translational research in order to critically examine the translation products as well as the role of agents in the fields of literary translation, interpreting and subtitling.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course introduces students to the crucial role of translation in intercultural communication. In particular, it examines the fields of literary translation, interpretation and subtitling as social practices that determine intercultural communication. In this context, students study the development of translation practices over time, focusing on textual, historical and sociological factors. On the other hand, they have the opportunity to practise in these fields in order to critically reflect on the challenges of translation and the limits of translatability.
