Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
Although it is not a prerequisite, it would be helpful for attending the 5EST2 workshop if each student has completed all or most of the previous "Directing" workshops.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Directing Workshop 5EST2, students will have developed the ability to analyze and creatively apply cinematic techniques related to duration, continuity, and ellipsis in audiovisual storytelling. They will be able to identify and employ the long take as a tool of mise en scène, rhythm, and spatiotemporal coherence, while also understanding ellipsis as a dramaturgical mechanism that activates the viewer’s perception and highlights narrative economy and suggestion. Through theoretical analysis, screenings, and practical exercises, students will learn to creatively manage cinematic time and space, to design action and the movement of bodies with awareness of each shot’s duration and energy, and to structure their directing approach with attention to rhythm, emotional intensity, and spatial composition. At the same time, they will cultivate critical reflection on their creative choices, become familiar with methods of documenting the directing process, and develop the capacity to reflect both theoretically and practically on the concept of temporality in cinema. Finally, through the creation of a final project employing techniques of the long take and ellipsis, they will aim to develop a personal cinematic style and narrative coherence capable of consistently expressing their own artistic identity and directorial intent.

Description
The teaching and laboratory practice of the course are extensively supported by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). ICT is utilized both for the presentation of theoretical material (screenings, interactive media, asynchronous learning platforms) and for the analysis of audiovisual examples. Within the framework of laboratory training, students employ ICT for the production, editing, and presentation of their own directing exercises, using digital camera systems, sound recording tools, and post-production applications such as digital editing and projection software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve). Communication with students is conducted through email, e-learning platforms, and teleconferencing tools (Zoom, MS Teams) when needed, ensuring continuous guidance and feedback. Finally, ICT is also used in the assessment process, both for the electronic submission and presentation of assignments and for providing detailed feedback and evaluation, thereby enhancing the interactivity and transparency of the learning experience.
