Course Content (Syllabus)
The production of short films/spots for commercial purposes was always a unique, active part of the audiovisual production. In fact, these are short films with specialized/informative purposes (to persuade the consumers/citizens to buy a product or a service, or to raise their awareness in order to focus on a particular ideological/social/political direction). With the introduction of the New Media, the production of commercials expands into the new unexplored field of the internet, shaping new forms and codifications in relation to the usual TV commercials. The aim of this section of the course is to present the main principles of producing TV/online commercials, placing emphasis on the production process (idea, script, style, aesthetics, implementation). Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy Within the framework of this course, the use of Artificial Intelligence tools (such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.) is permitted and encouraged as a means for research, idea development, scriptwriting, and visual content creation. AI is treated as a powerful tool that can enhance creativity and accelerate the production process. However, the use of AI must be conducted with critical thinking and academic integrity. Students are required to explicitly acknowledge the use of AI tools in their assignments and must be able to explain how they utilized them to arrive at their final result. The final evaluation will be based on the originality of the composition, the critical distance from the AI-generated material, and the final quality of the deliverable, rather than simple copy-and-paste of algorithm-generated content.

Student Assessment
Description
The assessment of students in the "Production V" course is based on two axes, aiming for a comprehensive evaluation of both theoretical understanding and practical application of knowledge. 1. Class Participation (30% of final grade) • Active Participation: Assessment includes consistent attendance, participation in discussions, contribution of viewpoints, and constructive criticism of fellow students' work. • Intermediate Exercises: Completion of small assignments that may be assigned during the semester (e.g., advertisement analysis, writing short texts, etc.). 2. Final Project: Advertising Film Production (70% of final grade) The final project is a group assignment (1 to 3 members) and constitutes the main part of the assessment. Deliverables: film, script, poster. The criteria for evaluating the final project are as follows: • Originality and Creativity of the Idea (20%): The initial conception, originality of the concept, and creative approach to the subject. • Script Quality (20%): The narrative structure, character development (if applicable), dialogue quality, and overall dramatic integrity of the script. • Technical and Aesthetic Quality of Production (20%): Direction, cinematography, editing, sound design, and overall aesthetic of the final film. • Relevance to Advertising Objectives (10%): The film's effectiveness in communicating the intended message, relevance to the target audience, and achievement of the initial advertising campaign goals. • Teamwork and Collaboration (10%): The team's ability to collaborate harmoniously and effectively throughout all stages of production. Note: The final project is mandatory, and failure to submit it results in course failure.
