Learning Outcomes
1. Memory: - Definition of sustainable development. - Definition of sustainable development. - Reference to sustainable development objectives (SDGs). - Identify sources of funding for sustainable development projects. 2. Understanding: Students will be able to - Explain the link between geopolitics and sustainable development/climate security. - Analyse the complexity of financing mechanisms for sustainable development projects. - Understand the principles of green and sustainable finance. - Understand the sustainability factors associated with different energy projects. 3. Application: Students will be able to - Apply the principles of sustainable development to assess the sustainability of energy projects. - Use the institutional framework on climate change to analyse real scenarios. - Apply sustainable development objectives for the design and evaluation of sustainable development initiatives. - Propose sustainable financing options for energy projects. 4. Analysis: Students will be able to - Analyze the geopolitical factors affecting sustainable development and climate security. - Evaluate the environmental impacts of different energy sources, including solar, wind, hydro and nuclear energy. - Take a critical approach to the challenges and opportunities related to desertification and its impact on sustainable development. - Analyse the role of energy storage and electrification in achieving sustainability goals. 5. Evaluation: Students will be able to - Evaluate the effectiveness of different financing models for sustainable development projects. - Evaluate the sustainability of energy projects on the basis of economic, environmental and social criteria. - Evaluate the ethical implications of different energy sources, taking into account their impact on communities and ecosystems. 6. Create: Students will be able to - Develop a comprehensive plan for a sustainable energy project, taking into account all relevant factors. - Devise innovative strategies to address the challenges related to desertification and sustainable development. - Propose new frameworks or initiatives to enhance the sustainability of energy projects. - Design models for integrating green or sustainable finance into climate change mitigation strategies.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course studies the following topics in particular: The concept of sustainability. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainable Development & Global Environmental Problems. Climate Change, Diplomacy and Negotiation. The ethics of climate change and climate justice. Climate Conflicts. Climate security and migration. Climate security and disaster management. Climate change and food security. Environmental planning and assessment. Mitigation, adaptation and resilience policies. Environmental data processing and management: Geographical information systems. Sustainable management of water resources. Climate change and protection of marine biodiversity.

Description
- Integrated e-learning management system (elearning.auth) (LMS) which is implemented by the open source software Moodle and allows the creation and hosting of a virtual classroom. - Provide a friendly modern tele-education environment for real-time interaction of the participants that allows to conduct remote lectures for course needs using tools such as Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, BigBlueButton - Classrooms with appropriate audio-visual equipment to host a distance learning postgraduate programme. - Creation and hosting of the website of each MSc using the service https://websites.auth.gr/. - Technological support for the creation of multimedia material (podcasts - videocasts) synchronized with the presentation of a speaker in the offered courses through the production infrastructure of educational material of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (https://it.auth.gr/service/studio/) - Support for live and recorded streaming/recording of the courses.
