After the completion of the course the students will: • knοw the basic theories and hypotheses about the levels of linguistic analysis • be able to understand the basic concepts related to the linguistic approaches to language disorders • be able to use sufficiently the related scientific terms • be able to use the methodology of linguistic research for the interpretation of language disorders • be able to understand how linguistic theory contributes to the explanation of language disorders

Course Content (Syllabus)
In this course linguistic approaches to language disorders are presented. In particular, modern linguistic theories about the levels of linguistic analysis (e.g. morphology, syntax, semantics) are analysed before questions and predictions of these theories about non typical language are presented and discussed with a focus on acquired language disorders. Students will be able to understand how linguistic theory contributes to the explanation of language disorders and interpet disorders in the light of linguistic approaches.
