Course Content (Syllabus)
The course introduces students to the key concepts, methodological tools and discussions in intercultural psychology, which explores how human behaviors are defined, change and are performed in different cultural contexts. Special emphasis is given to the connection between culture and identity as well as to the literature that examines the conditions and consequences of intercultural contact. The dilemmas that have historically been associated with "multiculturalism" and the different approaches to intercultural coexistence are discussed. Finally, the models of acculturation are presented and their limitations are discussed in the light of contemporary migration and refugee flows. In the different thematic areas, the presentation of both the dominant and critical epistemological approaches is attempted.
