It aims to learn the technique of basic steps and figures of the Social dances Salsa Cubana, Bachata and some other lesser known, but very current and worldwide widespread dances with roots in the Cuban tradition, while becoming familiar with their music and their unique rhythms. Learning Objectives The course aims to: • Train students to be able to recognize and distinguish musical motifs of Salsa Cubana, Bachata and other related dances. • In the technical training of students so that they can independently dance the dances that were taught either individually, in pairs or in a group circular arrangement (Rueda). • In the cultivation of the ability to recognize and correct technical errors, both in personal performance and under the supervision of third parties. • In the preparation of students for teaching basic elements of Latin American Social Dances to beginners or students. Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will acquire: Knowledge: • Basic concepts, historical elements, Orishas, ​​musical instruments and evolution of the traditional Social dance of Salsa Cubana. • Correct dance behavior (Dance Etiquette) of both sexes on the dance floor. • Basic Spanish-speaking terminology in elements and figures of the above dances. • Prevention of risks of injury to dancers - partners.
